Welcome to Louisville Center for Eating Disorders

We provide personalized, evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and co-occurring disorders (anxiety, OCD, depression, etc.) COVERED BY MOST INSURANCES.

Evidence-based treatment means that all of our providers specialize in treatments that science has supported as effective. We approach eating disorders from a lens of health at every size (HAES).  In addition, we personalize all of our treatment plans, based on evidence, to make sure that the treatment best fits your unique needs.

Services We Offer

Partial Hospitalization Program

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers 6 hours of therapy each weekday for all eating disorders. Combines individual therapy, group therapy, dietetic support, meal therapy, and medication management. Ideal for those needing more support than outpatient or intensive outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Program

Known as "IOP" this program offers 3 hours each weekday of evidence based support for eating disorders. Utilizes individual and group therapies, dietetic support, and medication management. This program is ideal for individuals who need more than outpatient therapy or who are transitioning out of a partial hospitalization program.

Outpatient Therapy

We are home to Be Well Kentucky, offering a smooth transition to outpatient care. This can look like once weekly sessions, bi-weekly, or as needed check ins! Same building, same providers! For more information, visit our Be Well Kentucky (BWK) website: https://bewellkentucky.com/

Virtual Therapy

For those individuals who cannot access our treatment center in person, we are able to expand some of our programs to telehealth. All sessions are confidential with a trained therapist. Patients must be deemed clinically appropriate for virtual care.

Medication Management

An important part of an effective eating disorder team is psychiatric support. While our initial approach is always therapy, in many cases medication can help assist with the ability to participate and benefit from therapy.

Family Support

Our programs include family therapy for patients who are minors. We also offer a virtual family support group once a week. Additionally, upon request, our clinic founder can schedule a "healthy body image consultation."

Treatment For Co-Occurring Disorders

Eating disorders often co-occur with anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and substance use disorders. Our specialists are trained to treat eating disorders AND any other co-occurring psychological illnesses.

Practicum Training

We offer training for those in school to become therapists as either practicum students or post doctoral fellows.

Professional Training, Team Talks, & Presentations

Our professionals provide outreach educational presentations for a wide array of settings (i.e. schools, athletic teams, hospitals, workplaces, conferences etc.). We are able to provide eating disorder information, ED warning signs, what to look out for, how to reach out to someone who you think may be struggling, and referral information upon request!

The treatments we use at the Louisville Center for Eating Disorders have been shown to reduce disordered eating, anxiety, and depression and improve quality of life.

Our Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs are in network with several insurance companies.  If we are not in network with your insurance provider we are happy to work with your insurance company towards a single case agreement.  These agreements often enable those who are “out of network” the ability to access care.

For outpatient therapy, our partnering clinic Be Well Kentucky is private pay and service costs are based on clinician hourly rates.  We do offer a sliding scale program that provides reduced rates for those with demonstrated financial need.

Our Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs can accept patients as young as 13 years old, though this can vary based on clinical appropriateness.

Your first time in therapy can be intimidating. We do our best to make sure you feel as comfortable as possible. In your first session we will ask you lots of questions about your eating, anxiety, mood, and history. We ask these questions so that we can develop a personalized treatment plan that is best for you.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program and Partial Hospitalization Program are both in network with several insurance providers including several Medicaid providers. We are in network with:

  • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • United Healthcare/Optum
  • Passport
  • Carelon
  • Cigna/Evernorth
  • Aetna Commercial & Aetna Better Health
  • Key Benefit Administrators

Additionally, we are able to work with many other insurance providers through single case agreements.

Currently all outpatient services are provided through our partnering clinic Be Well Kentucky, which is out of network with all insurance providers.
