Dr. Katie Waltrip, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified, doctorate-prepared psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner providing medication management for patients in eating disorder treatment.
She completed part of her psychiatric clinical training here at Louisville Center for Eating Disorders, and she understands how closely eating disorders travel with anxiety, depression, and OCD. Medication is rarely the whole answer in eating disorder care, but it can make the rest of treatment possible, and she works as part of the treatment team rather than alongside it.
She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Louisville, graduating summa cum laude, after beginning her nursing career in emergency medicine following her 2013 graduation from the University of Kentucky.
Outside of work, she plays volleyball, spends time with family and friends, and cheers on the Kentucky Wildcats.
