Brenda Arellano, M.S., L.P.A.

Brenda Arellano, M.S., L.P.A.,  is a bilingual, Licensed Psychological Associate. At the Louisville Center for Eating Disorders, Brenda treats individuals suffering from eating disorders and co-morbid anxiety, depression and behavioral difficulties. As a fluent native Spanish-speaker, Brenda provides therapy in both English and Spanish. She is trained in delivering various empirically supported interventions, including Exposure and Response Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness and Acceptance Based Interventions. Her training in various therapeutic approaches allows Brenda to adapt the therapeutic experience to best fit the needs, strengths and goals of her clients.

She graduated from the University of Louisville in 2017 with a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology. In addition to her clinical training, Brenda was involved in various research projects during her time at the University of Louisville. She shared her research on child anxiety and the intersection of culture and mental health at national conferences as well as peer-reviewed articles.

Prior to joining the Louisville Center for Eating Disorders, Brenda worked in the child welfare system. As a visit coach with JusticeWorks Ohio, Brenda helped parents regain custody of their children in foster care by improving their parenting skills, managing their mental health needs and increasing feelings of parental mastery. This experienced not only reaffirmed Brenda’s passion for psychological wellness, but also taught her how to adapt evidence-based treatment to best meet the needs and strengths of each individual.
